I have recently begun an online course called “Teaching for Understanding” with the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero. In one of our first assignments we were asked to read a short text by the course developer, Tina Blythe, called “The Spirit of Professional Learning: A Story and a Metaphor”. I believe the metaphor it presents is excellent food for thought, especially in light of our upcoming PD “boat trip”, where we will engage in a range of activities in teams, considering the importance of our collaborative work to improve student learning.
I hope you take a moment to read it!
